Today we are introducing the most extensive app redesign ever, creating an unprecedented streaming experience that allows listeners to organize their favorite playlists, stations, albums and more from over 100 services on one customizable Home screen.
Home Screen
The new Home screen provides faster access to Sonos system controls with one easy swipe up, making tab to tab jumping a thing of the past. As a leader in sound experience that’s focused on creating a better way to listen, Sonos intentionally redesigned the app on a modern software platform for an easier, faster and better experience that can support more rapid innovation.
The reimagined app supports all existing S2 products and will be available globally through a software update for the S2 mobile app.
100+ streaming services, one Home screen
The redesigned Sonos app prioritizes a listening experience that’s human - allowing you to bring your true favorites front and center and giving you more control to make your streaming experience your own.
Get into your music (and off the app) faster: No need to tap between tabs —the new Home screen serves up all your favorite content and controls, all in one place. Quickly jump back into your recently played, browse libraries and recommendations from your preferred services, and fill your home with music and all the sounds you love.
Customize and curate: Enjoy unparalleled curation by designing your Home screen to reflect how you listen. Pin rows of your favorite content and services; then move, edit, or rearrange them to your liking.
Search every streaming library: Look for an artist, song, podcast, or audiobook across all your preferred streaming apps at once via an easy-to-use search bar that’s always available right on your Home screen.
Elevated system control: Swipe up from the bottom of your Home screen to seamlessly control your entire system and access a visual overview of what’s playing on each of your products, quickly group speakers, and dial in on the perfect volume from anywhere in the app.
Accessible from any modern web browser, a brand new web app allows listeners the same seamless system control as the mobile app.
The new Web App
The Web App will be available alongside the redesigned mobile app on May 7, 2024.

Has a Sonos admin just removed all the negative comments about this appalling app release, because I am now seeing no user replies to this topic?
Hello. Got some questions and feedback around the new mobile app.
I have a large music collection stored in a NAS that I access through SMB. How do you search in your own collection with the new app? The choice to use classical search has gone? Feels like there is a push to use “music services”…
One more question. When I am browsing my music by album or by artist… how can I get back the A-Z letters in the right frame to quickly browse ? With a large collection this is an absolute must. And yet when scrolling through my collection the scroll bar is misleading since it gets easily to the bottom and then “jumps” back because there are more records… as it is now I cannot enjoy my music library.
feels the app does not have the maturity to go prod

Both of these features aren’t currently available on the new app. Hopefully they will be added soon.
This new App is so bad I can only take it as an intentional insult from SONOS to its users.
You have made it substantially worse and way more difficult to use.
Can we get the ability to hide or collapse sections on the home screen?
When not signed in as system owner the recently played section is pointless. Would like to hide.
This app relaunch has not been great. I’ve had to reset and re-add my Sonos Roam. Now in the new app it’s asking me to sign in for a system update but I keep getting an annoying error message: “Sign in as system owner / The system owner must be logged in. Please log out and have the owner log in.” I am the system owner! How do I fix this?
New app doesn’t seem to work well with Sonos Roam speakers. They no longer wake up when opening the app, which is very disappointing. Please bring this function back!

Is the Sonos Roam your one (and only) Sonos product? If so, my thoughts are, that you may need a different Sonos Household (HH) stored under the same original Sonos account credentials. If it IS the case, you may need to create a HH/System first with the new App, but if you have other Sonos products already in the original HH, then you need first to be able to see those ‘other’ devices in the new App and then go onto add the factory reset Roam to that Household. It’s just not clear what steps you may have taken already at this stage.
If you can’t resolve the issue you may find it easier to perhaps speak with Sonos Customer Care to sort it out. Here is their link:
When are you Sonos going to fix this absolute train wreck of an update? I have lost all of my playlists and most of favourite artists. Do something! NOW!!
Your should be embarrassed at at the complete horse poop you released. 💩

Couple of months at least.

Thanks for the quick response. Wow, setting up a household seems complex -- for the 1 device I have (the Roam). I’ll give that a go, however, and see if it works. Thanks again.
Just had a warning on my iPad that my Sonos password was part of a data leak and to change it
i have not updated the application but I have changed my password odd this happened while this is going on

Was the password used on more than one service, something other than sonos?
@Bumper
ios password manager doesn’t approve of duplicate passwords I always use the strong password recommendation 👍

Oh damn.
New app is completely counter intuitive, is missing a TON of features we are used to (alarms, sleep timers, search music library to name a few). This is a massive step backwards and shame on who ever green lighted this app as ready for general release. It’s not even close and promises of updates in the coming months is downright insulting.
All this is going from tragedy to farce. While reading the latest comments on this thread I got the following mail:
I start to wonder is there a pilot in the cabin? SONOS, do you believe new app is ok? If yes - then we all got a problem. If you believe it was not ok - then why are you wasting your customers time?
Alarms missing!!!!!! I have alarms set at different times on days for different shift patterns. I was due to be getting up at 5:45am but now need to change the alarm as I no longer am working that shift. I don’t have a windows pc or Mac so all I can do is unplug the speaker as I can’t change the alarm!
I can’t believe Sonos have released an app update that removes such an essential and highly used feature!
Disgraceful.
Disappointed alarm edit and sleep timer were lost on the new update. Not terribly glamorous but they’re pretty essential in this house. Please fix asap.

Like the said in their email before the update: “
“How will this affect my system?
We've taken great care to ensure that this update only enhances your Sonos experience. Your products, features, and services will work as they always have, and all your settings will be saved.”
They call it “courage” to roll out this crap of an update.
As a loyal customer this leaves me speechless but like I wrote before my next generation of an home entertainment system will not be a Sonos system again. An I’ll never ever I will recommend a Sonos system to anyone as I have often done in the past.

Exactly this. App auto updated on partner’s ipad and now the two things she does most often are gone (or so hidden I can’t find them)
Going back to S1 - if I can work out how.
Omnishambles as far as we are concerned.

Just got this as well - laughable optimism on their part.
Same here, despite the overwhelming negative feelings about the App, Sonos are ploughing ahead and are sending out more emails about the update and still have video of the App on the website demonstrating functionality that has been removed but would be available without updating.
Guys
what on earth are you playing at!
I would like to extend my wholehearted and joyful thanks to SONOS.
Yesterday I had a music library on a local NAS that I could use with SONOS.
Today I am offered a shiney new upgrade ( note upgrade generally means improvement the clue is in the UP!) now I cannot access my music library.
i now have some rather useless speakers sitting around the house and I am unable to play my library.
Please note “work around” are not an option with an UPdate the idea is that you ADD functionality NOT remove it.
i presume this is agile delivery and we have recieved minimum viable product.
unfortunately this is more like UNviable product.
A little like taking your car to the garage and they remove the radio and say you will get it back sometime in the future as an update.
Guessing that you do not care for your customers as we have already spent hundreds of pounds on your kit, you've had my money and now rendered my investment effectively useless for the purpose I was using it for.
When will music library be available again? I do not want to hear “the future” I want to know when you will return my system to how it was without your “upgrade” so I can use it as intended.
i worked in IT for 30 years and this is the most purely managed upgrade I have ever had.
