Latest Software Update - Early December '25

Hello everyone!

Yesterday we deployed an update on iOS and Android for the Sonos App and also an update to our firmware (Player). Have a quick look at what's changed below. If you are interested to know what has changed over the last few months, check out our App Release Notes here, as well as our System (Player) Release Notes here.

Once again, this will be a Phased Rollout. You might have the update ready and waiting for you within the App store or you will need to be patient until it becomes available to you.

In the App update:

iOS - 80.34.37

Android - 80.34.40

Additional music library settings for Android

Albums can now be grouped by Compilations or Album Artist (or left ungrouped), and folders can be sorted by Song Name, Song Number, or File Name.

In the Player update:

New Firmware version - 92.0-71170

Fixes:

  • Issues with sharing Mac Music library
    • Resolved an issue with indexing shared music libraries.
  • SVC bug fixes that improve overall player/app response times
  • Fixed issue with modern devices and large SMB share

Feel free to share your feedback, it is much appreciated as always!

Mike H

Note: There is also an S1 update that should be available. This is another one of those performance and reliability updates with no new features. Just giving a heads up so you aren’t surprised!

I still don’t have these options for music library available. Since then the app got updated to a next version 80.35.4. And yes, I do have “rounded corners on album art” introduced in that last version.

    Me too and me neither...

And if you’re still having issues, call Sonos Support to discuss it.

Can someone post a screenshot of the app showing where to find these features for albums grouping and files sorting for music library? Of course, I mean the Android app, not a desktop application (which has had these features all the time).

    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the update and clear details, this really helps users understand the changes.
Hope the rollout goes smoothly and fixes the issues well, not like lucky patcher problems that keep coming back.

Yeah, its just annoying/misleading that the app itself will update to the new version, as you say usually after the firmware, but the but posited features are not turned on in the app until some indeterminate time after that

They started doing this after the S2 roll out face plant they did. This way they upset subsets of customers at a time rather than everyone at the same time.

All pre-indexed music plays without any issues; it simply cannot be re-indexed. I attempted to re-add a folder, but sadly, deleting a folder prevents me from doing so. The path, user, and password addition procedure functions well, however after indexing, the reports are no longer accessible.

Has this version altered the criteria for permission? On my Sonos NAS shares, I have a dedicated user. Up until this most current update, this has functioned flawlessly for many years.

@Thomas35257 This is an old thread now, 3 releases have superseded this one.

There are current threads discussing library access on NAS. In short though use IP's not names in your share paths and/or give your Sonos user full admin rights. This seems especially sensitive if you have era300's in the equation too 🤷🏼‍♂️

Lots more discussion in the relevent thread(s) - this is one:
