Today we are introducing the most extensive app redesign ever, creating an unprecedented streaming experience that allows listeners to organize their favorite playlists, stations, albums and more from over 100 services on one customizable Home screen.
Home Screen
The new Home screen provides faster access to Sonos system controls with one easy swipe up, making tab to tab jumping a thing of the past. As a leader in sound experience that’s focused on creating a better way to listen, Sonos intentionally redesigned the app on a modern software platform for an easier, faster and better experience that can support more rapid innovation.
The reimagined app supports all existing S2 products and will be available globally through a software update for the S2 mobile app.
100+ streaming services, one Home screen
The redesigned Sonos app prioritizes a listening experience that’s human - allowing you to bring your true favorites front and center and giving you more control to make your streaming experience your own.
Get into your music (and off the app) faster: No need to tap between tabs —the new Home screen serves up all your favorite content and controls, all in one place. Quickly jump back into your recently played, browse libraries and recommendations from your preferred services, and fill your home with music and all the sounds you love.
Customize and curate: Enjoy unparalleled curation by designing your Home screen to reflect how you listen. Pin rows of your favorite content and services; then move, edit, or rearrange them to your liking.
Search every streaming library: Look for an artist, song, podcast, or audiobook across all your preferred streaming apps at once via an easy-to-use search bar that’s always available right on your Home screen.
Elevated system control: Swipe up from the bottom of your Home screen to seamlessly control your entire system and access a visual overview of what’s playing on each of your products, quickly group speakers, and dial in on the perfect volume from anywhere in the app.
Accessible from any modern web browser, a brand new web app allows listeners the same seamless system control as the mobile app.
The new Web App
The Web App will be available alongside the redesigned mobile app on May 7, 2024.

Nice to see the "Fix it or Else" contingent have turned up. 😁😋😛
The NEW APP has caused me nothing but grief. I have a Sonos Ray and a stereo pair of PLAY 3 connected to our Samsung TV in the bedroom. I have a Sonos BEAM and a stereo pair of PLAY connected to our Samsung TV in the living room. I am having trouble getting sound. If I get one working (which is challenge) and I move to the other, I don't get sound. I go to the source (TV) and still get no sound or it shows sound in the bedroom (though the system is off) while I get nothing in the living room.
This happens particularly when I move from one room to the other. I think the APP is failing to recognize that I have TWO DIFFERENT TV’s. VERY FRUSTRATING. I called Sonos Support but wait time is 85 minutes. Any suggestions???
Thanks

Please describe how to avoid this bad app, and get the old one.
This update is really not good
Still no word from Sonos?
Sonos, make this right, apologize and explain, then make the old S2 available again and call this new app S3 in a few years once you’ve finished and tested it.
Amen. And as so many have said, there is a short window for them to do so or thousands of loyal customers will walk away.
Yes, but where they gonna walk to. ? Comparable alternatives/equivalents are few (& very expensive, eg bluesound)
I agree that moving to another system won’t be trivial but I’ve been inspired to look around and see that I don’t have to stick to the Sonos ecosystem. Sonos has deeply harmed my trust in them. I have been with them since the early days, migrated to S2, continue to add/upgrade speakers, show friends, help set up friends, etc. This weekend I’ve played with Roon which is very cool, investigated Bluesound, etc.
Some kind of “oops, we are so sorry, we’re working on it….” would make me feel better than the courage comments.
One huge negative with Bluesound speakers is that they have soft-touch plastic covers which can turn into a nasty sticky mess within 2 years (if you are unlucky). The node 2 is sticky free but costs 550 per unit and needs speakers.
Roon is way overpriced at 15 per month. LMS is free!
I will explore LMS. I agree that Roon is expensive but helped me connect to my ripped music in a really creative/fun way.
I think the Naim devices have a decent app (with Music & Artist info). For LMS be sure to check out the Material skin plugin which transforms the user control interface - also has MAI functions. (I proposed MAI for a Sonos enhancement, but nada 😢😕)
LMS Material with Music & Artist Information plugin:
That looks very cool!
Where is a good place/link to start digging into LMS? Thanks in advance.
BRING BACK THE ALARMS! 🙏🏻
On my Android I uninstall version 80 and bring back version 16.1. Finally all is working like a charm.
But I lost my trust with Sonos. Looking for alternative. Bose could be a good one.
Where is a good place/link to start digging into LMS? Thanks in advance.
This is NOT the way it’s supposed to go with Sonos.
Not like this
This app doesn’t work. Tried all the recommended ‘fixes’ and none have worked - now unable to use the sonos app with my speakers. Also tried to use the S1 app and it also now doesn’t work. This ‘upgrade’ should be pulled immediately and replaced with the previous version. Until then, my speakers can’t be used it appears. Not a good customer experience and no indication from Sonos when this is going to be fixed - very poor. Sonos should be much better than this.
So, we always use the alarm on Sonos. We had a very early alarm set (to get to airport for a flight) and now, with all Apple devices now updated automatically to new app, we have no ability to turn that alarm off.
This ‘Brave’ update is feeling a bit badly thought through….
OMG 😂 I’m not going to read all the comments, so someone might have mentioned this before:
What happened to sleep timer? I use it when I go to bed and don’t want to start my computer to start a sleep timer - Seriously???
I can’t use the search functionality to search in my music providers (Yousee) library - I get no results what so ever - Seriously???
These are two VERY important features that doesn’t work as supposed to - how can that update be released?
This update is HORRIBLE. I purchased the ultimate immersive set and was super excited for audio experience my friends told me about. Once I started playing around with the app, buyer’s regret began to set in. The app is not great, to put it in the most positive way. The user experience was just awful. The though that came to mind was, someone didn’t want to spend the time or money to get it right. After a few weeks, I learned to live with it. And then... this SH*T!
Every time I open the app, it says “no products found”. Close, re-open, repeat, home screen appears then disappear after 5 seconds. Or once you get it to work, in the middle of listening to your music, it again can’t find any systems. Ultimately, I have no control over the sound system I spent thousands of dollars on. I can’t even turn off the radio so I can watch TV. In the few instances that it does work, one of the devices would show it’s NOT connected to the network, even though it’s actually producing sound. And the UI/UX...is still as confusing ASF!
You may have one of the best audio devices in the market, but it’s USELESS if your app is a piece of Sh! You need to fix this fast! And in the meantime, give us instructions on how to revert back to the older version!
Just tried the web app and it works: https://play.sonos.com/ Interface is very old and integration with other services is poor but you can play music and select speakers. Not ideal but better than having my speakers as valuable as bricks 🙄 Also tried the reinstall of the old version (S2) and it also doesn’t work for me. Someone from tech support should be monitoring these discussions and providing suggestions (ongoing, not just once in awhile) - lots of users here but no Sonos team members - very poor. If I treated my customers this way I wouldn’t have a business for very long….
Not only am I missing the Alarm and Sleeptimer, but also the Spotify integration seems crapy.
First of all, when I go to play song from Spotify in Sonos, then I’m taken to a screen where I have to scroll though all sorts of Shows, suggestions, recommendations etc. until I finally at the very end come down to my music. And here I then get an error when I try to go to my Album list. SOngs and Playlist seems to work ok, but I can’t play a specific album. I’m using this a lot, so I hope this will be fixed as well.
Luckily I have been able to install the old S2 app, so I at least can use my Sonos products as I used to, but I’d have preferred that Sonos had been brave enough to admit, that they have released a very poor app and had made the old one available as an alternative. Their way to handle this seems very arrogant….
The new Sonos app is a disaster!!
The new Sonos app is a disaster in every way!!!
The new Sonos app is a disaster in every way!!!
Not in every way - it sort of half works 🌗😁
Why would we want to access our speakers remotely, no settings can be changed? This is purely for the headphones. We are all suffering because Sonos doesn’t want to delay the headphone release! What is the point of Sonos headphones anyway over normal bluetooth headphones?
And this is where they stepped wrong and still don't know how to react and not hiring someone that knows. If all the rush with the update and the non-roll-back-to-S2 intifada is because of the headphones they plan to release - they've lost already. No-one outside SONOS fan base will show interest for their headphones. There's no reason. There are tons of well established brands and products out there. Only way to start is if you're already a SONOS customer and if you like to try their headphones in addition to your SONOS system. So who will show emphasis to them when knowing they screwed up whole experience via the app update for the same headphones.
All this is going more and more amateurish and frankly speaking SONOS was one of the last I was expecting it from. But as they say it's never late to ruin what you have built :(

Where is my alarm?!!! I have been a lover of Sonos for some years now and I use the alarm feature along with the other music services and to my surprise I am unable to access my speakers. These are products I paid for even though you provide extras services it doesn’t mean you should remove features I paid for or does it?
Does it work well after going back to S1? I am not interested in the app controlling my speakers over Internet so I will sell my Roam since that is the only speaker I have which is not compatible with S1.
The update is stupid! Put it back the way it was!
I’ll not be giving up the desktop controller for a long time. Interacting with the system requires much less fuss than forever scrolling up, down, and sideways on the pad/phone versions. Plus if you dwell too long on a phone/pad screen area something will be selected, maybe not something that you intended.
I am a Sonos newbie. I did aa search for the desktop app and came up empty. Is this an older, maybe obsolete app? I upgraded to the new iOS app and it can not find anything in my network.
