It is a disaster.  Why did you change something that looked and worked beautifully, and make it absolutely horrible?

First, when I open up the app, I do not want to see what services I do or could subscribe to, I do not want to see recently played, and I do not want to see what is trending now.  I want to see my system, and what is playing in each zone.

The interface (app) used to be architecturally pleasing so it was no problem leaving it displayed on the home controllers (Samsung pads).  Now it looks like another cheap phone application and definitely not appealing.

You can no longer add your own music.  I have an extensive library that I used to play from and where all my playlists reside, but with the new application, those are inaccessible.

It is time to ditch Sonos for a product that works and looks like it fits in a luxury home.

I have 3 Amps, 1 Move, 1 Five, and one Port, so it is not a trivial investment.

What to buy if you live in a hovel or shack, then? 😭

Amazing how little humour & even less self-irony has been displayed in this thread.

An almost perect example of narcissistic consumerism on the warpath😎

They are just on step one (pissed off, angry) of the steps to comedic enlightenment. Still have to go through despair and IDGAF 🤣🤣

That's what we want, what we really, really want... Comedic Enlightenment 😂😂😂 Excelente!

Talking of which, it's the Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final in an hour's time - could even listen on the ole' Sonos, but it's the TeeVee for me to glory in all those outrageous routines 😜🤣😎😁😍😂

@castalla

I always seem to have the phrase “wind-up merchant” pop into my head whenever you make a post.

Can’t imagine why 🤣

I couldn't possibly comment on that.

However, in my defence I have posted on alternative systems to Sonos, how to implement the two workarounds, and some aesthetic criticism of the new UX

To be honest I was one of the earlier Enraged & Furious contingent.  However, I underwent a sort of Damascene conversion when I realised what happens is out of my hands.  After all we're just raging about plastic boxes and wires. And there are plenty of alternatives.  It's not like Stalinist Russia or Mao's China where one size fits all (or even Henry Ford's America where you could have any colour Ford  Model T as long as it was black). I'm rambling, again. 😴

To be fair, I am on a similar path. I can now do what I want to do ( albeit with a 3rd party app).

That said, I still want the board of execs to get their comeuppance.
Still it is better to take the p1ss than to work oneself up into a rage.

That said, any chance I get to take a pop at the Sonos execs I will.

What can I say, I am a petty man 🤣🤣🤣

Yes, of course but they'll walk with multi-million severance deals leaving behind a bedraggled gaggle of gym owners, luxury home owners, American dreamers wondering where did their beats go.

I have sympathy for the Sonos foot-soldier's fighting a rear-guard action as the top brass fly off into the distance.

@ninjabob,

A usually successful workaround is to use more, smaller folders, rather than one large folder.

For example; rather than //drive/music, use //drive/music/classical, //drive/music/jazz, //drive/music/pop, etc. Up to 16 folders are supported.

I think that there is a memory overflow issue when attempting to process a large library in a single gulp. Each share is processed separately. Smaller gulps lower the risk. It also helps to use shorter track names. For example, I’ll use //share/music/jazz/artist/album/trk01.flac. “01.flac” would also be acceptable. I’ve seen rippers throw the whole first stanza of an opera track into the file name.

Here we go, the usual suspects coming out of the wood work to spread their "It's the customers who are wrong, not our corporate gods!" mantra.

I save a lot of money on my car insurance by switching to the Sonos S1 App! 🤣😜

I see @castalla is still winning friends and influencing people 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

On separate note, has any else noticed the similarities between then new Sonos ux and that of bluesound (obviously only superficially similar because the bluesound app actually works)?

Downgrade option if you haven’t seen it

Don't think bluesound has that very attractive misting feature.

Can confirm worst update ever.  Should put a warning on it that if you update you may never be able to use your sonos system ever again.

Anyone from Sonos Available to figure this out?  I'm furious about this.

I updated the app right after a new Wi-Fi Mesh install, the app said “update your Wi-Fi connection is not available in this version, please restore or hard wire” - SO I Restored and now cannot access any of my speaker system.

Why would you do this to your app?  insane…  So anyone buying a speaker system has paper weights while we wait for someone to correct?  This stuff isn't cheap.  I assume a lot of open box returns happening this weekend.  😡

SONOS INTERRUPTUS

I think the honourable action would be for Sonos to withdraw (the new app, I mean 😜)

AND

Reinstate the previous S2

Thank goodness Sonos didn't adopt a new logo and app name for the new 'courageous' version.!!!

Just curious since I am on and will stay on S1; for streaming I use the Spotify native app anyway so it does not matter to me what's in this one, but is this upgrade an effort to keep up the UI experience with the joneses or is it to take it to be an experience that no streaming service offers today?

The S2 app was not updated for a long time. Also many people find it inconvenient to use it. So you could say that a complete overhaul was overdue.

The primary way in which the S2 app was overdue for an overhaul was to add back the feature demanded far, far, far more than any other: control via the lock screen. Seriously, do the people at Sonos not ever use an iPhone or iPad?
