Sonos Roam not grouping with Sonos One

I have just purchased a Sonos roam and am trying to group with the play/pause button method, it worked fine when we first got the roam but isn’t now. When I hold down the play/pause button I hear two tones, and then it immediately swaps the audio to the one rather than grouping them. If I try to let go before the second tone the music just pauses. Not sure what’s going on here, any advice?

Welcome to the Sonos Community!

It’s an easy mistake to make. Please hold the Play button on the Sonos One to include it in a group with the playing Roam.

That is, hold Play on whatever unit that isn’t playing to get it to play the same music as others. The Roam does the same, but if you hold it for an extra second, it does Sound Swap instead (the music is moved, rather than duplicated).

I hope this helps.
