It has happened twice in different Sonos Roam units. A random banging super loud noise, incredibly scary and irritating. No buttons work when this happen.

I see many have had this problem but sonos has not replied or taken it seriously.

I am apalled at the lack of customer service, no wonder the stock is in the dump.

In every solved case I’ve seen over the years, it’s been an external device sending a signal to the Sonos. I’ve never seen an instance where it has been the Sonos software or device. Can you point me to one, please? Although there have been a few that I’ve seen no data on, too…but no data means nothing, only confirmed reports.

Have you submitted a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and call Sonos Support to discuss it?

Let’s say it’s a “signal” (which for some reason decides to go into one of my 5 Sonos Roam units, twice). The volume doesn’t work, reseting it doesn’t work either so, regardless of the source, it is the device.

No data means nothing? Right, so we’re all imagining this happening. Thank you for your kind reply.

When does the noise stop?

When does the noise stop?

When the battery is depleted

That’s not nice! How old are these “banging” units? Are the units running on battery power, wireless charger, or USB? When running on battery power what is the run time to discharge? Is an “event” more likely to occur near full charge or minimal charge? Is an “event” associated with a specific music source?

There have been a few similar issues reported. Here in the Community we don’t have enough information to determine a likely cause. I can imagine hardware and software glitches that could result in “banging”. Be sure to report the issues to SONOS support (after submitting diagnostics). If SONOS can observe a pattern, even if the problem is related to product age, a software update might be able to improve the situation.
