Hi @IanR,
I’m sorry to hear that you’re having issues with your Roam wireless charger.
The wireless charger we sell is the same for all versions of the Roam (Roam 1, Roam SL, and Roam 2). If you’re leaving the Roam on the wireless charger, then it wouldn’t go into sleep mode, which is what I would suspect if the Roam isn’t powered on when you first go to use it. This sounds like your wireless charger isn’t working correctly if it’s letting your Roam run out of battery.
When you leave the Roam 2 on the wireless charger, does the battery LED light up when you do and, if so, does the app show the Roam is charging? You can see the battery percentage and status by going into Settings → Roam 2 → Roam 2 again, and you should see the battery under Status. Another test would be to connect the Roam with a USB-C cable instead of the wireless charger to see if it stays charged over night.
If the Roam stays charged overnight with a USB-C cable, then I would say the issue is with the wireless charger. If the Roam still loses charge when left this way, I would suggest contacting support again to discuss your options with them.
I hope this helps.
Hi @IanR,

The Roam 2 indicates that it’s being charged when on the wireless charger, but the charge slowly drops, about 5% or so per hour, I’ve tried multiple USB chargers including some high wattage ones, and have tried a different Qi-compatible charging pad but so far the Roam just slowly loses charge despite showing up as charging (lightning bolt in the middle of the battery icon).
When using the USB-C cable directly into the Roam, it charges up and stays charged.
I’ve tried multiple USB chargers including some high wattage ones, and have tried a different Qi-compatible charging pad but so far the Roam just slowly loses charge despite showing up as charging (lightning bolt in the middle of the battery icon).
I’ve tried the second non-sonos Qi charger again and the Roam 2 now has actually charged up to 100% from 84% in the space of about an hour so it looks like it’s the Sonos wireless charger that is duff rather than the Roam 2 itself, so I’ll see if I can get Support to swap that out, doubtful though as it was bought with the original Roam probably 3 years ago.
Despite the original order being April 2021 they have just shipped me a new Roam wireless charger, so that’s pretty good. I suspect the original never really worked.
Hi @IanR,
I’m glad to hear you got it sorted with our support team. With how you described the issue, I’m inclined to believe that it was the wireless charger from the start.
I hope the replacement arrives soon so you can use it. If you have any further issues, please don’t hesitate to reach back out here on the community or to our support team.
