Received a Sonos 1 from my brother as a birthday gift in April.
I left it as I was tempted to sell it since I really don't use portable speakers when I use my Sony XM5 cans instead.
Yesterday I said screw it and decided to open it and try it out but I cannot get this thing to connect!
I put it on the base ring & the bottom LED on the speaker pulses orange for a short while then goes to a fast red LED pulse.

I left it overnight thinking maybe it was a low battery issue but it was doing the same thing this morning.
So I plugged it into a 45w USB C to charge for a while then back to the ring, same thing.
My app does not see it and when I put the speaker on the ring while holding the infinity button to do a hard reset the white light on top just stays at a slow pulsing white, no white/orange alternating.

Is this thing DOA out of the box? If so I think I might be done with SONOS...I have 8 SONOS speakers in the home but with the issues with the app and now this, come on.

Anyone have any suggestions? Appreciate it

Hello @Udon, welcome back!

I am sorry to hear you are experiencing issues setting up your Sonos Move 1.

I put it on the base ring & the bottom LED on the speaker pulses orange for a short while then goes to a fast red LED pulse.

Please have a look at our Support Article Sonos LED lights. If you see a flashing red light on the battery LED I would recommend you to contact our Support Team for live troubleshooting.

They have tools at their disposal to provide you with information and advice specific to your system and what it reports and also assist you with any issues you are facing with the Sonos App.

I hope this helps.

So I managed to get the flashing white, after placing it on the ring, to flash to white/orange & then green.
My app found it, added it and I got audio from the speaker when the app was searching for it.
It then told me there was a firmware update, so it downloaded it and installed then said it was restarting the speaker only to have the app state “something went wrong, try again” and since then the light goes from white/orange to off.
It no longer will go to green.
Seems these issues are widespread on the move and roam.
Now I know not to touch these again, ever since the app debacle Sonos just isn't the same.

After an update the LED does not turn green. If in the App you have the Show Status LED turned off you will see no light after the update. You’ll have to turn the Show Status LED switch to on. After which you’ll see a constant “white” LED on the Move. Of course, the above may be a moot point if you are saying you can’t send audio to the Move after the update.

After the “something went wrong” the speaker does not show up in the app or work.
I was trying to add it once again but it will not go green in order for the app to find & add it.

What advice did the Support team provide, when you called them?

They suspected it was a hardware issue but it appears the unit I received from Amazon was swapped one as it is tied to another account. 😒
So someone swapped it...Amazon is terrible for not checking returns & reselling things they shouldn’t.

If I receive any ‘replacement’ from anyone (Best Buy, Amazon, pick your poison) I always perform a factory reset first, just in case. They have told me it’s already been done, but I’m a belt and suspenders type of person. I’d prefer to be certain I’m adding a ‘new’ device to my network.

Well the issue is somebody swapped their defective Sonos move for a new one and I got their defective one. Chances are they opened the bottom flaps of the box as to not cut the paper tape on the top.

As it stands I am Sol for any type of warranty claim because Sonos support told me that the speaker is registered to another user and the warranty has expired. I suspect the original issue with it was a bad firmware update
