A new feature on my Ubiquiti Dream Pro router (https://www.ui.com/consoles) shows my Sonos Move using the WiFi 4 standard.  Is it possible to change that so Move uses WiFi 5?

If it assists, the actual specification, wireless connections/security for the Sonos Move are listed in this link:

Sonos System Requirements

https://support.sonos.com/s/article/126

The Move Supports WiFi 4:

802.11a (5GHz)
802.11n (2.4GHz and 5GHz)

To change these things would mean a hardware upgrade so it’s a perhaps case of seeing if there is a next generation of the product (I don’t think we will see that for a while 🤔?) … you could always go for a stereo pair of Roams instead … see below:

Sonos portable hardware

  • Move: Two class-D amplifiers, mid-woofer, tweeter, far-field mics, 11 hours battery, Wi-Fi 4, Bluetooth
  • Roam: Two class-H amplifiers, custom racetrack mid-woofer, tweeter, far-field mics, 10 hours battery, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth
  • Roam SL: Two class-H amplifiers, custom racetrack mid-woofer, tweeter, 10 hours battery, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth

Thanks for the info, Ken.  The Roam doesn’t sound anywhere near as good as the Move, so the trade-off of WiFi 5 vs Class D amplifier isn’t worth it.

Yes of course - it’s probably going to be a case of having to wait for the next generation of the Move, whenever that will be?

Admittedly, I like the Move .. it sounds great to my ears and works well in and around our Home & Garden.

Thanks again.  The Move does sound incredible.
