It is best to leave the Move on the charging dock when you can. This will also keep the Move fully charged so it will always be ready to be taken on-the-go when you need it. And according to Sonos, leaving it on the charging dock will not reduce the battery’s lifespan.

In general, batteries deteriorate with each discharge cycle. Each cycle decreases the run time slightly. A rule of thumb is 800-1000 full cycles before the run time is so short that it is impractical to use the unit on battery. Partial cycles are not as stressful on battery life. In a previous era most NiCd batteries had an issue with being on the charger full time and we were trained to charge them, then remove the battery from the charger and occasionally we should have allowed the NiCd battery to fully discharge. Modern Lithium batteries are almost the polar opposite. They love to be kept on the charger and don’t like to be fully discharged. In fact, if a Lithium battery is discharged too far it will usually lock out permanently.
