You can use Airplay or Bluetooth.

Thank you for the info, but I am way newbie to this forum, I cannot seem to link them together, I don’t see it as an option for Bluetooth (available in iPad options) are there any quick hints you can share?

Usually, you reach Bluetooth through the iPad’s settings. It would be the item below WiFi, and you’d click on it to drill down to activate it. Of course, you’ll need to have connected your Roam to the Bluetooth first, by following the instructions that you got with the device, and are in the online version of those instructions. 

Hi.  The first thing to note is that when using either Bluetooth or Airplay you aren’t really using the Sonos system, and so this is all about standard Bluetooth and Airplay use on your device.  You don’t use the Sonos app.
