My Xfinity remote will not control my Arc SL if I’m more than 3 feet away.

Figured it out. The IR receiver is on the bottom of the soundbar and I had it sitting too low on top of my entertainment center.

Make sure that the remote’s batteries are in good shape.
There could be some stray light in the room, causing interference. In some cases stray light from the TV screen can cause issues. You can investigate these possibilities by using you body or some cardboard baffles to cast shadows on the IR sensor. Lamps or sunny windows directly across from the IR sensor are prime candidates.
