Products that are pure white or black do not give designers much to work with in most homes. Would like to see more attention paid to colorway aesthetics. A soundbar does not have to look so generic and unattractive. Perhaps a two-tone Arc Ultra in silver and gunmetal grey.
Sometimes, they’re not. If you look back in their history (the recent retrospective), you’ll see they’ve done several partnerships and special editions that were not black or white. I suspect they sold at much lower rates than simple black or white did, but I don’t have access to sales data.
As a side question, why are all TV’s all black, and other devices, like game servers, hifi equipment, and kitchen appliances mostly a single color?
Soundbars especially are kept in black or white because they are in your direct sight when watching TV. Their color should not distract from the viewing experience. They should ideally not be noticed visually.
That’s why they differ in form (compare the Sonos Arc to other soundbars) but not in color. Sonos does at least do two ‘colors’, black and white.
Both my Move 2s are green Sonos do the odd colaboration, Hay for example, and bring out some limited edition colours. Red, blue and green. It is rare though.
