True. If the OP can list the make/model of TV, we could possibly give them a hint on how to set the volume to something different.

It can be aggravating we never found a setting in our TV that let us disable that message. Added to the desire to replace the TV with a less aggravating one.
Post the brand and model of your TV and maybe someone will have a fix for it.
Sonos doesn’t have any control over what appears on the TV. The Ray works via optical, so there is no feedback from the Sonos Ray to the TV set, it is merely accepting input from the optical port, and using the IR commands from the remote to control volume.
You may be able to get better information from the TV’s customer service folks, they may have run into this issue with other optical connected soundbars.

That’s been and issue with optical output on some TV’s as far back as I can remember. That’s pretty far back 😂.
Check with the TV manufacturer and make sure the optical volume output is set to “variable”. Usually a setting in the sound menu. In some older sets it may have been a physical switch at the rear.
The solution is to decouple the volume on the remote with the TV. Often this is done by choosing another device, a Sonos soundbar if that is a choice, or a receiver - Onkyo, Denon, etc., for the volume control. Then retrain the Sonos Ray to use that volume command rather than the TV. That way, the remote will be sending a different volume signal that the TV will not mistake for its own commands.

Is there any output from the TV speakers? I expect there is none. In this case you might be able to train the TV and other IR remotes to control an arbitrary A/V system Volume, then configure RAY to respond to these arbitrary Volume commands.
+19Best not to use the digital volume control on the TV. You lose resolution as the volume lowers. Use the Sonos volume.
Do you mean better not to use tv remote control? Instead of of that better to use sonos app only by phone to change volume? And is there really significant difference in the quality of sound by using app? Thanks for your support!

The page below is captured from the online manual for the Sony KDL 42W828B. It basically states what I suggested in my original reply. If following the directions as written below don’t correct the issue then you need to contact Sony Tech Support as there is really no issue with Sonos. Good luck!

My comment about not using the TV volume applies to any implementation of “digital” volume control. Could be on any device that uses a digital volume control. If that device is connected to something that has its own volume control that is the one to use. When a digital volume control is used at lower levels the resolution of the output is compromised. If you could keep the percent level of the digital volume somewhere between maybe 70% and above you should be OK to use digital volume control. All depends how many bits the device is using. A TV is probably not that well implemented.
For all my digital devices like the Sonos Port connected digitally to my KEF DAC in the KEF speakers I set the Port to Fixed Volume. So I control the KEF system volume with the KEF volume control.
