Want to connect beam to xbox one without TV

I have a projector which does not have ARC/optical audio output. 

 

I want to connect the beam to the xbox one optical output and then the xbox to the projector. 

 

In setting up the beam it asks to test connection and doesnt work from there. Anyone know if i can connect the Sonos Beam directly to xbox vs TV.

That should work. Make sure the Xbox Audio settings are set to Optical and DD 5,1:
