I'm a recent purchaser of Sonos products, after being impressed with them in holiday rentals.

My first purchase has been the below:

Arc

Era 100 x 2

Sub Gen4

The interesting, not to mention frustrating, thing I've found is the fact Trueplay is missing from the Arc settings.

The Era 100s both show the option to run Trueplay (when not paired as Surrounds with the Arc) but the Arc is completely missing it even when not paired with any other speaker.

I've tried the below to rectify this, based on other posts and videos:

Rebooted all speakers - issue is still present

Unpaired everything, including the sub - issue is still present

Reset the App - issue is still present

Cleared all App cache and data - issue is still present

Cleared all App cache and data, then uninstalled and reinstalled the App - issue is still present

Paired the Eras back to the Arc - issue is still present but now I obviously cannot Trueplay the Eras as they are in the Arc 'system'

I'm using a Samsung S21, I've seen lots of reports of Trueplay not being present on Androids but the fact it is present for me for the Era 100s, says something different.

I've added a couple of screenshots, one of the Arc settings and one of the Era100 settings.

Can anyone point me to any more helpful info please?

Have you checked for a system update? There was a recent update that had to be initiated from the app. Give that a try

Quick Tuning with a soundbar and Era 100 surrounds is only available when using an Arc Ultra.

In order to Trueplay the Arc you need to use a compatible iOS device.

Are you talking about the trueplay that is available on Android for some Sonos?

I don't think that is available on the Arc, only the Arc Ultra.

The Apple trueplay is different, the link explains it.

Thanks Ryan

Thanks both

Unfortunately, that doesn't explain why Trueplay is not available for me on the Arc.

That link tells about advanced tuning via Trueplay, with iOS, for the Arc Ultra, Era100 and Era300, I was under the impression that ALL Sonos products could use Trueplay even if it was basic.

I'm seeing, and can use, Trueplay via my Android for my Era100s, if it was saying I could only use Trueplay via an iOS, I shouldn't be able to see it for the Era100s either.

I suppose my next question is - does the Arc support Trueplay?

I've seen videos on it where others have used Trueplay for the Arc so I'm assuming it does.

So my next question it's - is Trueplay only available on the Arc via an iOS device and if that is the case, is there any documentation around that? (Detailing the difference between Arc and Era100s)

Edited (06:12 UTC) as I made a mistake in my reply

“Basic” or “Quick” and “Advanced” Trueplay is a relatively new concept. Before that there was only Trueplay and that was - and still is - only available from a specified IOS device.  AIUI, Advanced Trueplay still requires the IOS device. All speakers can be tuned using Trueplay. It doesn’t always improve the sound, however. Some folk, in some rooms, prefer not to use the Trueplay tuning. There is a Settings toggle to turn Trueplay on and off.

Yep, sorry I forgot to add that into my list of ‘already tried’.

So I have an update…
I did what I should have done previously and I went to the User Manuals…
Arc says specifically that Trueplay can only be done via iOS - https://www.sonos.com/en-us/guides/arc  (search for Trueplay)

Whereas the Era100 Manual says basic Trueplay (quick Tuning) can be setup via iOS or Android but for Advanced tuning you will need to use iOS - https://www.sonos.com/en-us/guides/era100

Its a bit of a letdown considering the cost of a Sonos setup, definitely something I should have looked into more before purchasing the products.

Just to back up the above info, looking at the Arc Ultra Manual, that also does not make any comments around iOS and/or Android, just that Trueplay can be used, so I would assume that would be both iOS and Android, just as the Era100s - https://www.sonos.com/en-us/guides/arcultra

Thanks for the replies everyone.

That link explains Quick Tuning is only available on Arc Ultra, Era 100s and Era 300s. That is why you see Trueplay when your Era 100s are not being used as surrounds.

As the Arc requires Advanced Tuning and your mobile device (Android) is not supported for Advanced Tuning, the Trueplay setting will only appear for the Arc on your Android device once you have ran Trueplay using a compatible iOS device.
