That’s odd. The TV sends the volume command via CEC-ARC to the Sonos Arc. There really shouldn’t be any delay at all. Have you unplugged the TV from the wall for 5 minutes? Have you submitted a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of reproducing the issue, and call Sonos Support to discuss it?Don’t post the resulting diagnostic number here.

There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

Most of the problems, I have ever had with AV equipment have been down to HDMI-CEC, every manufacturer uses a slightly different proprietary implementation and these when blended together, can cause strange cliches, try turning off all the attached device’s CEC.

A five minute lag is unusual enough that I would test whether the delay is in the TV's CEC commands or in the Arc itself. Try changing volume in the Sonos app while the TV is on — if the app responds instantly but the TV remote still lags, the problem is on the TV and CEC side rather than the speaker. Then try turning CEC off on the TV, unplugging both the TV and Arc from power for a couple of minutes, and reconnecting the HDMI cable to the eARC port before turning CEC back on, as that forces a fresh handshake. Swapping in a different high-speed HDMI cable for a day is also a quick way to rule out a cable that has started failing. If the lag returns only after other HDMI devices are plugged back in, disconnect them one at a time, as another device can interfere with CEC.
