My right surround (Play S1) randomly plays birdsong. It usually happens in the morning when I do not have the TV on but occasionally happens while I'm watching TV and have the front sound playing through my beam.

Huh, never heard this one before. I’d guess something is sending a signal to the surrounds, but if that is your TV, some sort of wifi interference , or what is hard to tell from the description. I think I would recommend that you submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and call Sonos Support to discuss it. Don’t post the resulting diagnostic number here, Sonos’ lawyers get sensitive about GDPR, I suspect.
There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.
When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.
