I've just added a sub 3 to my arc and rear speakers . Do I use the sub to adjust the base or the EQ or both

You can adjust both the bass in the EQ and the Sub Audio level.

They’d serve two different purposes. The Five would need to be a pair, and would serve to carry surround sound for the Arc. The sub would carry the Low Frequency Effects channel for the Arc.
The Five is not a subwoofer.
