First time adding my 2- play1 to my surround sound (playbar). They will add to the surround sound but they drop off my WiFi. When they are not added to surround they work great on the wifi. Thanks

Are the surrounds operating?

When used as surrounds, the PLAY:1’s will no longer appear as a separate “Room” in the SONOS controllers. Also, the PLAYBAR will directly (wirelessly) send music to the surrounds. Some Routers will then not show the surrounds as being connected because there is no direct traffic between the router WiFi and the surrounds.

Avoid Factory Reset without further consult.

You have to choose, you can't have Sonos configured as normal speakers and Surrounds at the same time.

You can set the Surround Music mode to Full and when playing music on your Playbar they will mirror the left/right front channels instead of only adding gambience to the Room.

Do you have the Playbar wired to the router and if so, did you select “Disable Wi-Fi” ?

Selecting Disable Wi-Fi on the Playbar would stop it from connecting wirelessly to the surrounds.

Otherwise, can you explain your network? What router are you using?

I understand you can’t do both. Not trying to do that.

I have a playbar optical wired to my Tv. It works great. So I want to add my 2-play1s to the playbar for surround.
When I go in the app to add them. It adds them to the surround. I get the tones and the music at the end of the set up. It also shows that they are add to my wifi and in the app.

But as soon after that. They are gone from my app and being connected to the wifi too.
I have done soft reboots and hard reboots to the speakers an wifi. Factory Reset
Thanks again for the help

Yes it work for a minute. Tell I turned off the tv and when I turned it back on the playbar worked and the play 1 did not.

When the Play:1s are added as surrounds, they connect over a private 5GHz network to the Playbar.

I’d contact Sonos Support as they will be able to review a diagnostic of your system to see if anything is interfering with the surrounds connection which is causing the connection to drop off.

When you say they didn’t work, is it that you don’t hear TV sound coming from them? You won’t always hear sound from surrounds unless the soundtrack has been engineered to use those surrounds at that moment. The rest of the time they will be almost silent.

At the point where you think they are not working, what happens when you play music on the Playbar and Play:1s? Do you hear sound then (assuming you have set Music to ‘Full’ under the surround settings)?
