The sound keeps dropping out on my beam gen 2, it happens randomly 

It sounds like wifi interference. Have you tried connecting it to your router by ethernet cable? 


No not yet but I will give it a shot, thanks for your help 


It could also be a sound format mismatch from the TV (if it’s only TV audio that drops), or similarly potentially a old-spec HDMI cable being used.

But come back (or not!) once you’ve tried the ethernet cable.
