Sony Bravia TV + Sonos Arc Connected but No Sound

Every time there’s a power outage my Sonos Arc does not play any sound with my Sony Bravia TV.

It says it’s connected and “Audio System active” but I cannot hear anything from the Sonos Arc.

I have tried disconnecting, restarting the TV and Sonos Arc, unplugging its power but nothing seems to fix the issue.

Help?

When you state ‘restarting the TV’, how are you restarting it?

For what it’s worth (nothing), I frequently-ish seem to have power issues here, and neither Arc, connected to an LG and a Samsung seem to have this issue.

I’d be tempted to submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and call Sonos Support to discuss it. Don’t post the resulting diagnostic number here, they get sensitive about GDPR.

There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

Unplugging both TV  and Arc from power for a couple minutes might help.

I haven't had your issue here with my Sony and Arc or Arc Ultra.

If power outages are really common consider a small UPS to keep them powered up. With the TV off and Arc sleeping power draw is going to be minimal.

Found a solution for anyone that may need help:

Go “setting”

“Display and Sound”

“Audio Output”

change “eArc mode” to “on”

then “Digital audio out” to “PCM”
