I have a Sony Bravia TV, Apple TV 4K, and Sonos Beam. I'm experiencing connectivity issues with my audio setup.

My current setup:
- On my Sony TV: I've selected "Use external speakers"
- On my Apple TV: I've set Audio Format to "Stereo"
- I'm using an HDMI cable to connect the Beam to my TV's HDMI ARC port (HDMI 3)

The Issue:
Every time I turn on my TV, the audio doesn't automatically route to my Sonos Beam. The only way to get sound through the Beam is by manually accessing the Apple TV menu and selecting the Beam as an "external speaker" each time.

Has anyone experienced this issue or found a solution? I'd appreciate any help!

What specific model Sony Bravia TV? Do you have a Beam Gen 1 or Gen 2?

Hi @IslandBNYC

Welcome to the Sonos Community!

Sorry to hear of this issue you are having with not getting audio to your Beam.

As far as I am aware, when you tell your Apple TV to use an external speaker, it is in fact utilising AirPlay to get the audio to your Beam.

Therefore, I don’t think you’re ever getting audio coming through the HDMI cable, as you should.

As a result, I recommend you get in touch with our technical support team who have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your Sonos system and what it reports.

I hope this helps.
