Am facing error 30 on an update to Sonos sub mini.

i tried all steps mentioned( getting close to router , restarted my device and router , connected mini with cable to router ) . But still facing error .

I reset my sub mini, now unable to add - as the last step it is checking for update and going for error 30.

how can I overcome this issue.

Did you call Sonos Support directly to discuss it?

The one suggestion I have would be to temporarily wire it, and the device it is bonded to, to the router with an Ethernet cable, but that’s merely a guess. The support folks would likely be able to give you better advice.

Oh, one more thought. Make sure that the radio/wifi isn’t turned off on either the mini-sub, or the device it is bonded to, as well.

Have try to update with Ethernet cable connected to router. Still same issue . Connected with support team , they tried multiple ways by resetting/ restarting but nothing worked . At end they told to use desktop/laptop Sonos and try to update . Now I checked with laptop and then with android phone as well . Still getting error 30 for sub mini . No idea ways next for this issue

I too have same issue, I reset my sub mini which I shouldn’t have done, now it is not connecting to the arc without update and update throws error 30

drdsak,

Good news u was able to connect to arc today after so much effort ( didn’t check update after connection )

1st there was not much solution from Sonos support .. connected with them for 2-3 hour in last few days , with vain . At last they have thrown it on our Internet provider.

how I solved connecting back .

  1. Unplugged arc , sub mini.
  2. Rebooted router
  3. plugged only sub mini and wired it to router
  4. I took laptop and installed Sonos app and tried to update ( it took 3-4 minutes for updating but it gave same error after much long time ) … tried 2-4 steps multiple times.
  5. when I opened app in my iPhone and try to fix sub mini . It asked for room to select.
  6.  I switched on the arc and clicked fix sub. And sub mini added back to my Sonos app to that room .

I didn’t check for update as Ian happy atleast now u have my sub back connected

Hi Vamshi, tried everything, sub-mini reseting, router reboot, phone hard restart, app reset, app reinstall, using ethernet for sub mini, removing and adding each component, using PC, using Mac, using VPN (via PC hotspot), adding one by one, nothing worked, still error 30. Probably will wait till next app update, which may fix this. My sub mini is useless, there is no proper Sonos support in India, though they sell it in India.

Movie watching is not same without sub mini, hope they will resolve it

It’s true. There is no proper support from Sonos in India . I wasted some much time … now they say it could be issue with ISP … I checked all firewalls nothing works . Some how I was able to add sub mini back to  my room in Sonos app ( got lucky from my trial/error process nothing from Sonos team ), but update error still persist .. still having error 30. I too waiting for new Sonos update if that can help in resolving this.

A Workaround That Finally Worked

After struggling with Error 30 & Error 1000, while trying to register my SONOS Sub Mini, I finally found a fix. Since this was clearly a persistent network issue, I decided to take a different approach.

How I Solved It:

1. Used a VPN – Installed a VPN directly on my router.

2. Picked a US IP Address – Connected my network through a US-based server.

3. Registered the Sub Mini via iOS App – Opened the SONOS app and completed the update/registration process.

4. Success! – The registration went through smoothly without any errors.

I’m glad I figured this out, but let’s be honest—this is not a standard procedure for setting up a speaker. No premium product should require a VPN just to function properly.

SONOS needs to seriously rethink how they handle connectivity and regional issues. If they don’t address these problems and improve their tech support, they’re setting themselves up for a slow decline.

Hope this helps anyone facing the same frustration!

Thanks for the suggestion, my router is ISP provided, and does not support VPN. I am not sure if I need to invest on router just for this or just wait for month or so for next update

Definitely missing bass during movie watching
