Hi everyone,

I am a college student trying to cobble together the best home system I can with Used sonos’s. I have 2 Play ones and recently purchased a Connect.

The goal: Have TV output come out of a 3rd party speaker and the 2 sonos Ones that are mounted in the rear of the room.

My TV has a optical cable for audio output. I have bought a converter from Optical (out of the TV) into RCA to go into the Sonos Connect. And RCA to Analog into the 3rd party speaker. So far I cannot find a way to make it work

Firstly, I wanted to make sure that this set up will work as expected. Secondly I would love advice on how to make this work or what I might be doing wrong.

Thanks!

It probably will not work as expected. as there will be a ~75ms delay to the audio output causing lip-sync issues with the video on-screen.

To get it working, assuming the Connect line-in audio is working, you need to select the ‘Connect’ as the chosen room on the ‘Now Playing’ screen in the App and then select the ‘Line-In’ source icon, located at the foot of the Music Services tab. Simply ‘Group’ your Sonos rooms to play to all and set a group volume level. See this link for how to group/ungroup your rooms:

See these (hopefully) useful links too…

I’m assuming that the 3rd party speakers have their own built-in amplifier. CONNECT cannot drive passive speakers.
