Sounds like this is a design flaw, but my Sonos beam is wall mounted.
the hdmi cable seems lose in the port and therefore the soundbar looses connection.
any fixes?

Are you using the original Sonos cable?
Not all cables are the same and some aren’t really close to meeting the specifications.
The hdmi port should be a standard size

Yes mine is very loose fitting. It wiggles in it. I’ve read that on the beam, there’s a design flaw where it’s too recessed in.
So you are not using the Sonos supplied cable? Is the connector on the cable a bit bigger than usual connectors?
Hi
Welcome to the Sonos Community!
Sorry to hear of this issue you are having with the HDMI socket on your Beam.
If you are not using the supplied cable, does the supplied cable fit properly? We can hardly take responsibility for a third-party cable not being up to spec.
If you are using the supplied cable, does it help to reverse it so that the end that is currently going to the TV goes to the Beam instead?
If it seems that the supplied cable is not fitting, we’ll be happy to send you another. If it then transpires that that cable is also loose, we’d look into perhaps replacing the Beam.
I recommend you get in touch with our technical support team once you have answers to the questions above (unless you can find an arrangement of the cable that fits).
I hope this helps.
