Sonos Beam Gen 2 won't update

We have 3 Sonos beams. Two update fine. One refuses to.

We have unplugged it for an hour.

We have disconnected it from the HDMI port.

We have done the above singly and at the same time.

It's attached to a Samsung Smart TV. We have uninstalled it from the Samsung and re-installed.

There is NO, ZERO problem with the router. Even the SONOS app acknowledges that the WiFi is fine.

When we get an error message, it is simply “1”.

I don't know if we need the update, but this is driving us crazy.

Have you tried connecting it to your router with an Ethernet cable, temporarily?

Since you have other Sonos devices, I’d also be tempted to do a factory reset on it, and it can copy back any settings from your other devices.

Failing that, I’d call Sonos Support directly to discuss it.

When you speak directly to the phone folks, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

I bought an inexpensive 50 foot Ethernet cable for similar situations, much easier than moving gear around.

Once I set static/reserved IP addresses for all my Sonos gear the issue went away and the Ethernet cable has been sinking deeper and deeper into the spares bin here.

FIXED.

Found a YouTube video which shows one how to reset the Beam to factory settings. I did that, then used the Sonos App to “install” it. The software update worked.

It now will also play radio stations, which it had stopped doing.

N.B.: if you need to do a factory reset, it takes a long time (well, a minute or so) for the white blinking light to change to orange and then green.
