I have the following set up:

  1. LG TV
    • eARC aktiv
    • pass through
    • audio output: Dolby Atmos Plus
  2. Apple TV 4K (gen. 1)
    • audio output: auto, Dolby Atmos on
  3. Sonos Beam (gen. 2)

According to Sonos App audio via Apple TV is only Multichannel 7.1 (or Dolby Digital 5.1), but not Dolby Atmos. What can I change to get Dolby Atmos via Apple TV (via TV I can see Dolby Atmos, but WebOS is awful!)

Make sure the stream from the AppleTV is in Dolby Atmos (i.e. the program or movie you are viewing).

If you have a HDMI Input Audio Format setting on the TV, be sure to set it to Bitstream.

What streaming apps do you use?

Apple TV Films (title supported Dolby Atmos, for example Haunting in Vegas). When I watch it through TV the same film is in Dolby Atmos.

Yes, input audio is Bitstream

Double check the settings on the TV and Apple TV.

TV settings:

HDMI Input Audio Format: Bitstream

Digital Sound Output: Pass Through

DTV Audio Setting (if available): Auto

eARC Support: On

Apple TV Audio Format settings:

Change Format: OFF

Dolby Atmos: ON

Then unplug the TV and Apple TV from power for a couple of minutes and test again.

Also, make sure you are playing the ORIGINAL language audio track.

That works! Thank you very much!
