Can the ethernet port on a Sonos Beam be used to connect a turntable?
Can the ethernet port on a Sonos Beam be used to connect a turntable?
No. It is an Ethernet port, it can only be used to connect to the network. It has no audio inputs.
You own a turntable with an ethernet connection?
No but with the right converter the optical port can.
Hi
Others are correct regarding Turntable (TT) audio directly to the Beam. The most effective way to get TT audio to the Beam is by purchasing a Sonos Era 100 and connect the TT to its line-in. You would then Group the Era 100 with the Beam.
Note: The TT must have a built-in pre-amp. If not you’ll need a 3rd party pre-amp that sits between the TT and the Era 100.
The most cost effective way to get TT audio to a Beam, assuming one doesn’t want to splash out on another Sonos speaker, is to buy a small analog-digital converter (less than GBP20) and an optical input selector switch (ditto). Use in conjunction with the Beam’s optical audio adapter.
One would lose CEC control of the Beam via the TV (so use infra-red instead) and Atmos (if it’s a Beam/gen2 and you actually care).
