I have just replaced a working Sonos Ray system with Sonos Beam and the Sonos Beam doesn’t work with the Sky Stream Remote.  The Ray does.  The only difference I can see is that the Beam connects via HDMI Arc and the Ray connects via Optical cable.

It is really annoying as I spent a lot of money on the Beam and it is now needs 2 remotes to operate.  I shall get a refund on the Beam if I can’t solve this.

I have read detailed stuff about HDMI CEC conflicts but it seems that things have just got too complicated.

Can anyone help?

Since the volume control works in two different ways, due to the connection method, you may need to go back into you’re TV’s settings and turn off IR, and make sure CEC (which I think Sony calls BraviaLink, or something like that) is turned on. Or, you could just call Sonos Support directly to discuss it.

Oh, it may be in the SkyStream settings, my apologies, since you’re dealing with that remote. You want the volume commands to be communicated to the TV set, not the Beam. The TV set then ‘tells’ the Beam to change the volume.

Thanks - I will try these things

I’ve tried the remote reset and no joy - any other suggestions

I’d suggest calling Sonos support, as previously mentioned.

What two (2) remotes are involved as you only mention the Sky Stream Remote?

The remote sends IR commands directly to RAY. With BEAM commands are sent to the TV and the TV relays them over the HDMI cable to BEAM

Beam is usually very docile about setup. Make sure that the SKY remote can control the TV Volume directly. Probably you should work with support. Before you call, have the TV Mfr and model handy.
