Sonos Beam and Frame TV

I’m trying to get my Samsung frame TV remote control to directly increase or decrease the volume on the Sonos Beam.

I’ve paired the remote control with the Sonos beam in the Sonos app. However, every time I use it, although it works correctly, the frame TV shows an optical message on the screen which is very irritating

The Beam is connected to the frame TV using a HDMI cable, and it is plugged into the optical port on the frame TV junction box via and HDMI to optical adopter from Sonos.

any help on this would be wonderful

Thanks but I’ve tried that, but every time I press volume up or volume down, a big box pops up on the left hand side of the Frame TV showing “Sonos Beam HDMI”. I don’t want this to appear.

That box is part of the Samsung software, it is going to appear no matter which speaker you use.  It even appears when you use the TV’s own speakers.  The only way around it is to use the Sonos app to control volume.

Don’t connect it via optical.  Use the HDMI-ARC port and you don’t need to setup the remote for Sonos, you can set it up for the TV and the TV will control the Beam via CEC.   You will also get better audio through HDMI-ARC.

Okay, but will there be any messages flashing up on the screen. The thing that drives us mad is the notification on top of the movie when you’re adjusting the levels.

No.  Optical is a dumb connection, CEC is a smart connection.  The TV will know the Beam is connected via CEC so it will control the volume with just the normal volume display.

Is there any way to pair the Tv remote volume up and down with the Beam instead of the Tv?

Thanks for the ideas.

Yes, but that is what was giving your the optical message, because the TV output was set to optical, but you were using the TV remote to change the volume.  You can try switching the TV remote to use another brand of soundbar/receiver for volume, then train the Beam to use that brand’s signal.  That would work, though I’m not sure how to go about it.  My Samsung remotes get tossed as soon as the TV’ is configured, because I use a Harmony Hub.

Yes that could work. Only issue is that the Beam seems to only pair with one remote at a time, so I can’t pair the Tv remote AND my Apple TV remote to it directly.
