Sonos Arc Ultra. TV sound fades out when audio clip is being plaid.

Hi @Dmusicman73

Welcome to the Sonos Community!

Sorry to hear of this issue you are having with your Arc Ultra fading TV sound out.

I just now played TV audio on my own Arc Ultra and then, while playing, instructed music to play and the TV audio cut out immediately and the music started playing.

So, I heard no fading, and can’t reproduce what you describe.

If this is not what you you were doing, could you please elaborate on what you mean? Thanks.

What I am experiencing is when watching a tv show and they show a clip from a movie or another tv show the speech is difficult to hear. Also, on a late night talk show when the music act comes on it is very hard to hear the lyrics. I have found that turning off speech enhancement helps a little but not much.

Hi @Dmusicman73

You have difficulty hearing lyrics so you turn Speech Enhancement off? That seems a bit counter-intuitive. There are three levels of Speech Enhancement - what happens if you use a higher level? Please go to Settings icon » oroom with Ultra] » Speech Enhancement » Medium/High and test.

Also, what audio format do you see reported in the Sonos app’s Now Playing screen for the Arc Ultra when you are watching your show?

Please be aware that, as far as the Arc Ultra is concerned, absolutely nothing will change when a TV show plays a clip of a movie - no format change, no change in the number of channels, no change in signal gain. If there is a mis-balance between the sound at two parts of the same show, that is on the in-studio TV sound engineer to resolve.

I hope this helps.

I have discovered the root cause of the difficulty hearing clips played on tv on a Sonos Arc Ultra. When surround sound is set to + 3 or more, the audio on the clip is difficult to hear. If I turn down surround sound to -3 or more the audio on the clip is much easier to hear and mirrors the audio of the regular broadcast. There must be a better way of correcting this problem rather than having to open the Sonos app and lowering the surround sound level every time a clip is played. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @Dmusicman73

I cannot suggest anything as I do not understand why it is you’re experiencing this, or what would cause it.

What format is reported in the Now Playing screen on the app when this show is playing, please?
