Sonos Arc and Dolby Atmos support question. TV I'm looking, Sony XR-77A80L, at has HDMI IN eARC/ARC on the back. Does that mean input only? Will that work?

TV I'm looking, Sony XR-77A80L, at has HDMI IN eARC/ARC on the back.  

Does that mean input only?  Will that work?

Yes, this will work as expected… Sonos devices have got a hdmi OUTPUT with eARC funktionality. There the audio signal to Sonos uses a return channel. 
So on the other side at the tv a hdmi INPUT with same eARC functionality is needed.

Yes it is an ‘input’, but that TV HDMI connection has an (enhanced)/Audio Return Channel to send the audio ‘out’ from the TV aswell to a connected Soundbar. It’s an Atmos audio (uncompressed/compressed) capable connection too.
