Hey, I’m desperate for help….

This was my original set up and i had it named as “Family Room”

Sonos Beam

2 x Sonos One surround speakers. All worked perfectly.

Yesterday I bought an Arc Ultra, a mini sub and a new tv. My plan was to move the beam and the existing tv to one of the bedrooms, name the room “Bedroom”. And then use the Arc Ultra, Mini Sub and Sonos One’s in the original space with the new tv and new Apple TV box and change it to “Living Room”.

For the life of me I cannot get the existing Sonos Ones to connect to the Arc. The Arc and mini sub are working perfectly and they are in the “Living Room”.

Additionally, I now have 2 “Family Rooms” and they are both showing in the app as “not connected” even though the beam that I put in the bedroom is working perfectly. I want to delete both “Family Room”, and then add “Bedroom”.

My goal is to have two completely independent rooms (I bought a second Apple TV box). I’m having so much trouble navigating the app and getting it to where I want it to be, yet i know it’s doable.

HELP!

Its possible you created a new system when you introduced the Arc, rather than adding it to the existing system.

One approach is:

factory reset your Ones and the Beam; then make sure you add them to the existing system, where the Arc is already set up. Add the Ones as surrounds. When you introduce the Beam to the system, add it to a room you label Bedroom.

Factory Reset will destroy music service registrations and SONOS playlists. If you Factory Reset the new units and add them to the existing system, you’ll keep the old settings. If you’ve already Factory Reset the old units it’s probably easiest to continue with the new units.

I’m probably too late to assist but here’s the procedure you should follow next time. I’ll use your current products as examples:

  • Open the app and go to the room with the Beam and select “remove surrounds”. They will revert back to individual rooms. Leave them plugged in. Ignore any pop-ups to create a stereo pair or add them as surrounds...for the time being
  • Rename the room with the Beam to Bedroom
  • Unplug the Beam and remove it from the TV
  • At your leisure move the TV to the Bedroom and reconnect the Beam. The Beam should recognize the TV and re-join the network as “Bedroom”
  • Setup your new TV
  • Plug-in the Arc Ultra. Open the app and select “Add speaker or component” and name it “Living Room”. Set it up with your new TV
  • In “Living Room” select  “Add surrounds”. The app will see the One’s and start the process to add them as surrounds. Complete the process
  • Plug-in the Sub Mini
  • Open the app and select “Add speaker or component” add the Sub Mini. Complete the process
  • Go to “Living Room” and select “Add a Sub”
  • The app will find the Sub Mini. Complete the process
  • Once all the above is done your Sonos is ready

Note: The previous room called Family Room may still show in the app. That’s OK as it will disappear in a few days.
