Reverse theater room

This is an often requested option, sadly the internal configuration needed for TV audio and for streaming are different enough Sonos doesn't appear to be offering it. 

Still we get nice surprises like the portable option to be Rooms or surounds so maybe someday.

I’ve never understood why internal configuration is needed to mute the soundbar while surrounds and sub keep playing for non-TV sources.  The soundbar should be able to be the orchestator of the setup without playing anything itself.

Also, to add to this request, my desk sits on the right side the room.  I want to have a preset where non-TV, stereo sources play ‘left channel’ on the right side of the soundbar, ‘right channel’ on the right surround speaker, with the left side silent.

The much-requested channel volume control would solve this: in this scenario, just mute/turn down the front channels. 

That simple mute / volume reduction would work for stereo streaming, not so good when streaming Atmos.

Still the idea sounds possible. Have the "mute soundbar" actually do a bit more behind the scenes.

• Simple: Mute soundbar, request stereo tracks, not Atmos.
• Not as simple, as above for stereo surrounds but allow/redirect Atmos for Era-300 surrounds.

Still a question on how to treat Sub levels and crossover points in the different modes.

There’d be the assumption that doing so also affects the ‘capabilities’ of the surround speaker, i.e. turning on voice control, and other types of features (like Bluetooth, AirPlay 2 and others) that require a different type of connection. 

Would you still be able to control them using the TV remote? So many unanswered questions. 

I think all of the reconfiguration between Room mode and Surround mode could/should be avoided.

Basically do nothing beyond muting the bar and redirecting the R/L channels, while keeping all other functions untouched.

Think the absolute minimum number/scope of changes to get the basic concept to work.

I can achieve what I want to happen here by setting my Beam gen 1 to Full Mode and putting my bed pillow over the Beam. Well aside from spousal disapproval issues.
