Even with the launch of the new Amp Multi, there still does not appear to be a way to power my 7.1 surround system without also buying an amp from another company such as Denon.  Am I missing something?  Seems like an obvious gap.  Please ship an Amp with HDMI eARC and Dolby ATMOS surround decoding for 8 channels plus a sub.  The Amp Multi could have been great to target multiple use cases.

You’re not missing anything. Sonos has no 7.1 solution, currently. The best you can do is an Atmos system of 5.2

The request for multiples, including front separates, has been made many times before. It’s a valid request, just something Sonos hasn’t acted on, yet.

I personally don’t see the advantage of an “AMP Multi 7.1” wired to passive speakers over a A/V receiver and a Port.  You still need wired passive speakers, and any dedicated receiver is going to have far more options than any current Sonos A/V unit.

An AVR, with a Port as an input is likely the best solution.

A new version of the Amp Multi with an Atmos decoder would be nice. Only having 8 channels would be a bit limiting if you wanted more than a single height pair, or a dedicated center channel.
