My ~ 8 year old Playbar died. We now want to change the TV to a Frame and not have a soundbar showing. The old setup was the Playbar with digital audio out from the TV to the Playbar and a pair of in ceiling speakers powered by a connect:Amp (along with a Sub). So, can I use the newer AMP, connect that to the TV, connect the rears to the Amp and get a pair of wireless Sonos speakers for the front to create a surround sound system? I don’t have wiring to anywhere usable for the fronts so would love to be able to use Sonos wireless speakers (Era 100’s?) but I believe I read that the Amp can only connect wireless speakers as rears. Thanks for your help.

Using Era 100s as front speakers will not allow you to pair an amp for surrounds.
Here is what Sonos recommends for a Home Theater system.
Two Amps can also be used for front speakers and surrounds:

Your setup really sounds like it could use a front Amp and Sonos in-wall speakers. Other brands of in-wall ones might work too.
The wiring for the in-walls as well as the needed openings shouldn’t be difficult for a professional audio installer.
