I recently purchased a Sonos Beam Gen 2 soundbar for my Dell Alienware AW3225QF monitor, which has an eARC connection. I purchased an eARC HDMI cable from the official Sonos website (which I believe is 2.1, therefore compatible with the monitor). I set up the devices as follows:
- HDMI 2 output on the monitor connected to the PC for video output using a UGREEN high-definition HDMI cable.
- HDMI 1/eARC output on the monitor connected to the SONOS Beam Gen 2 soundbar using the original SONOS HDMI/eARC cable.
Despite the correct settings, the audio doesn't work. My monitor correctly displays the soundbar among the output devices [1 - AW3225QF (AMD Audio Definition Audio Device)], but sound doesn’t come out.
I've done everything I can to try to resolve the issue, specifically:
1. I reset the monitor settings.
2. I enabled HDMI CEC (on) on the monitor.
3. I installed the latest monitor firmware update (M2B110) and restarted my PC.
Dolby Access app on Windows correctly visualize Dolby Atmos for Home Theater.
Despite all these attempts, I still can't hear any sound. I'm wondering if there’s a problem with the monitor itself or with my PC, which aren't encoding the soundbar (i.e., they sense it but can’t connect with it). Wonder if this soundbar only connects to TV..
Also:
- I was able to connect the soundbar to my Sony TV, which has an eARC output, without any problems. The sound came out of the soundbar flawlessly.
- After about 30 minutes, the soundbar LED goes from flashing green (connected) to flashing red (not connected), as if no device was able to recognize it. Monitor screen becomes temporary black for 2 times while the soundbar disconnects, and I can’t see the soundbar anymore in the audio setting [i.e. the monitor doesn’t show the soundbar anymore: 1 - AW3225QF (AMD Audio Definition Audio Device) disappears].
- I even tried connecting the soundbar to my PC's optical output using the SONOS optical-eARC adapter included in the box, but even then, I can see the PC's audio connection (Realtek Digital Audio) but I can't hear anything.
Please help, I don't know what else to do.
Thank you very much,
Matteo
