If the new Sonos CEO is truly sincere about winning and earning back customer trust and good will. Now is the most opportune time to add all DTS formats, including DTS:X, to Sonos home theater products.
Plus, it would only strength Sonos in being a better and more complete sound system for music and home theater enthusiasts.

There are “Please support DTS:X” threads going back to a decade ago. None of them got past 2 pages in length and most of the recent ones are populated by the same half dozen posters. Not sure supporting something with that low level of interest is going to be winning and earning back customer trust and good will.
Tariff price increases are going to suck enough, adding the cost of a DTS decoder license that I'll never use will just make things worse.

I’m not sure of DTS:X cost as I have no information. But would take a guess maybe $20 tops? Xbox give their customers option to purchase DTS:X, I think for $10. They also do same thing with Dolby. Customer choice. Get it if want, don’t if not.
Sonos could absorb the $20 to earn good will (not like Sonos is budget price point to begin with). Strongly believe Sonos should do something similar to how Xbox do and the vocal people that not want it, not have pay for it, and the people that appreciate DTS:X may have it. Win-win in my eyes. Hard to argue that at all.

Spending even $20 per unit is far too much just to please the half dozen or so clamoring for it in here. That’s not even counting the man hours required to integrate it into their firmware.
Making it a subscription option doesn't account for the costs of adding it to the firmware or the issues raised by the increased fir ware footprint, particularly in older more memory limited Sonos devices.
If there was enough demand maybe it could be as an optionally loaded module but just not seeing the demand to justify it

If meaning subscription as a monthly subscription? Not really suggesting that as I’m very anti-subscription. Extremely tired of being inundated with them nonstop in today’s world. Asking more to buy the license, one time, and done. Works great for how Xbox does it.
Not seeing demand I feel is quite misleading. There are lots of people that would love to have it. As some here judge demand by a single internet forum to gauge the demand is very inaccurate. Slim majority of people (let alone Sonos customers) ever go online to voice, wishes, suggestions, or features. Firmly believe if given the option people will purchase or become genuinely curious and just buy to try it. Especially at $10 or $20.
Really stand by prior post being this the perfect solution. If want it, then can buy it. If not want it, then do not. Does not effect or affect any one -- in any capacity whatsoever -- that does not want it.
Not sure about anyone else, but as a consumer, choice hardly ever a bad thing.
Obviously, Sonos has far more data on the demand for such a feature than any one user or even any one forum. The fact they haven’t moved on it for over a decade should answer any questions about the demand or potential ROI.

I understand your thought. But could they add Atmos to older, more memory limited Sonos devices? Probably not. That is like trying to add bluetooth to Sony Walkman cassette player. No matter how much like to have it, hardware just not there.
Arc Ultra and Era 300 for example, the hardware is there, as it’s being used as Atmos already. Just support DTS:X and let speakers do their work. Heck, DTS:X is even more flexible with number of speaker configurations than Atmos is. That is one less obstacle or factor or overcome.

So now you are limiting demand to just the owners of the Arc Ultra and Era 300s? Not looking good for your demand estimate.
