What?

Are you trying to say that you connect the Playbase with Ethernet and it works, but when you disconnect the Ethernet it doesn’t work anymore?

If so, have you turned off the wifi on the Playbase?

It sounds like the Playbase is dropping off the app when the network connection changes.
This usually happens if it switches between Wi-Fi and Ethernet or loses a stable connection.
Try keeping it on one connection type only and make sure your router is not changing IP addresses.
If needed, setting it up again in the app after reconnecting can help it stay visible.

Hi thanks Caroline I checked and phoned sonus and it’s a diagnostic report said that the Wi-Fi connection in the play base is not working. It can only be worked now with a wide ethernet cable into the router. So I’m buying a TP link plug to add the ether net cable to the play base. They said the play base is old and now will not pick up WiFi took me a few hours to try everything but at last I can try this last option. The router is in another room for my cctv and WiFi extender linked to it. Thanks for your help

Hi so I could have turned the WiFi off the playbase not sure if I did that! But when I phoned Sonos they said it’s not working the WiFi connection

The PLAYBASE is fairly old, in tech terms. If the WiFi card or antenna has failed in it, it wouldn’t really make a difference if you’ve turned off WiFi in the controller, but it wouldn’t hurt anything, either.

Thanks for the update. That makes sense if the Playbase Wi-Fi hardware has failed. Using Ethernet via the TP-Link adapter sounds like the safest workaround at this point. If it stays stable on wired, that at least confirms it’s a hardware limitation and not a network or settings issue. Glad Sonos support could confirm it, and hope the wired setup works reliably for you.
