Playbar volume control with TV remote

I have a SONY BRAVIA TV. I have the TV and soundbar setup and the sound is coming from the soundbar. The problem is that I am unable to control the soundbar volume with the TV remote. I have to control the soundbar volume with the + /- on the side of the soundbar. When attempting to adjust the volume (with the remote) it shows that volume is coming through the soundbar but does not adjust the actual volume. This process is required each time we change apps and programs. Is there an initial setting on the soundbar that I have missed (eg set the volume to 1)?

Please advise.

Firstly your TV remote needs to emit IR - check it is not an RF remote.

Secondly you need to “teach” the Playbar the codes for your remote. You do this in the app.
