Hi all, I am not sure what I am missing. My playbar is connected to my Samsung TV via optical cable. I have already setup my remote on the app and it works perfectly when using the TV either with air/cable tv or other apps like Netflix or whatever… BUT if I change the input for the TV to be an HDMI (as for my Playstation 5) the remote wont change the volume (and the little indicator light won’t work either)
it is only if I open any other tv app or air/cable that the remote will work ok again… is this normal or am I missing some configuration or something?? Thanks all!

When I had my Playbar, this item solved all my issues:
The Playbar simply plugs into it by optical, and then it runs by HDMI cable to the HDMI-ARC (or eARC) port of the Samsung. It’s basically a great way to connect the Playbar to a TV’s HDMI port. The TV then recognises the Playbar as a ‘Receiver’ no matter whether you’re using the TV for air/cable or apps, or with a device connected to an HDMI port.
And the TV’s remote worked for me regardless of what input I was using.

Can you check your Playstation isn’t connected to the HDMI-ARC (audio return channel) port?
Or is it an issue for any devices plugged into any HDMI port?
Thanks for your reply Rhonny! I double-checked, no, it is on a regular HDMI port (I have an PS4 and PS5), it happens with both… I’ll try to find another HDMI device to see if it happens as well (I would not expect the issue would be the actual Playstations) but just to confirm…
Go to Settings > Sound > Sound Output and check it is still set to Optical Audio Out or External Speaker even when switching to the PS5 or other HDMI input.
Go to Settings > Sound > Expert Settings > Digital Output Audio Format and set it to PCM, not Dolby or Bitstream.

I have another TV setup with an Arc, sub and play:1’s as rears for home theatre setup, Ill test the PS5 there to see if it works (but should, my kid plays with his switch and I think the remote worked there as expected) but will def give it a look at your suggested gadget thanks!!
