I have Samsung tv and Sonos play bar. And play 1 speakers. They used to work perfectly as surrounds but no longer work. I just get garbled noise from the surrounds and in the app once the tv room shows

Since you’re using a PLAYBAR, that means you’re connecting via an optical cable. Since optical only travels in one direction on that connection, your PLAYBAR is unable to tell the TV and associated CEC devices what it can accept, so you have to manually do so….which is something that occasionally QA folks forget about, when they’re approving updates to non-Sonos devices. And since optical is limited in bandwidth and can accept only Dolby Digital, you’lll need to look at the audio options for your TV, and anything sending a signal to it, to ensure that you’re locked ‘down’ to Dolby Digital.

Takes a few minutes to look at all the audio settings, but should take care of your issue..
