I just got my first SONOS - a Beam 2. All set up nicely and easily with the clear guide.

However I have to use the optical link as it is an older TV. The sound sometimes stutters as if the cable is loose.

It’s the first time I have used optical - should it click firmly in place ? I am a bit wary of using force.

Thanks - I know it may seem a very basic question

It’s a Samsung Series 7 ,

I have not managed to get it to “click” but it’s sort of wedged in and working most of the time !

The optical port may look square, but you do have to connect the lead the correct way.

One edge of the optical lead is slightly curved/domed in shape and this has to be inserted the correct way into the TV’s optical port for it to ‘click’.

The optical adapter should not be loose. It should be fully inserted into the optical port on the TV and click into place. You’ll feel the click when it has been inserted correctly.

Just a thought  - have the optical plugs had different sizes ?

There is normally a small plastic cap on the end of the optical lead. Remove that cap if it’s still in place.

And yes, oddly, there are two different sizes/styles of optical connectors, but the ‘other’ one is pretty rare. What TV make and model do you have?

Thank you all for your quick and understanding help !

I am up and running; although I could never get a solid physical connection, I did get a good sound , so with a bit of tape to keep the wire in place all seems fine.
