Hi

I have an Lg tv (65NANO86VPA) with a Beam, sub mini and 2x Fives connected.

My Sonos app only ever shows Stereo PCM.

I’m testing with a movie on Amazon Prime.

I have beam connected via eARC. Sound output is set to Dolby digital

Should I  be getting better audio output???

Hi, the Rhonny answer is more or less correct but more specific I'm user of LG so you need to go to:

In output settings select HDMI ARC (Sound > Select Output > Wired output > HDMI ARC)

Sound > Advanced settings > eARC support (it's at the bottom of the menu)

And also you need to set the pass-through (Sound > Advanced settings > Pass-through of audio > Pass-through or Auto)

PD: The configurations name may not be the same name but in steps are the same (my TV is in Spanish) :)

I don’t have an LG but my friendly AI has suggested checking the following - not sure if this is helpful or not..?

TV Audio Settings

Even though your LG TV is set to output Dolby Digital, double-check the following:

  • Settings > Sound > Sound Out > HDMI ARC (or eARC, if available)
  • Then go to Additional Settings > Digital Sound Output and make sure it’s set to Pass Through, not “Auto” or “PCM”.
  • Also, make sure eARC is enabled under General > HDMI Settings > eARC Support.
