I have a sonos amp to tv with in ceiling speakers. All worked fine for a couple of years. Intermittent audio from tv for a mouth or so now no audio from tv but all fine streaming music just no tv audio. I’ve changed HDMIs over and still the same issue. Any ideas?

Check for updates on the tv, then power off the tv for 5 minutes - unplugged, not just in standby mode.

Check the hdmi cable is fully inserted.

Along with what @nik9669a has suggested, make sure your Sonos system has the latest updates. There was a firmware update released last week that may be needed for your Amp to work properly.

Go to settings > General settings > check for updates.

It sounds like there could be an issue with the ARC (Audio Return Channel) connection between your TV and the Sonos Amp. Since streaming music works fine, the issue is likely with the TV's audio output rather than the Amp itself. Try these troubleshooting steps:

  1. Check TV Audio Settings – Go to your TV’s audio settings and make sure the sound output is set to HDMI ARC or External Speakers instead of internal TV speakers. Also, ensure CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) is enabled (may be called Anynet+, Bravia Sync, or similar depending on the brand).

  2. Restart Everything – Power cycle both the TV and the Sonos Amp. Unplug them for at least 30 seconds before reconnecting.

  3. Test with Optical Adapter – If your TV has an optical audio output, try using the Sonos Optical to HDMI ARC adapter to see if that restores sound.

  4. Try a Different HDMI Port & Cable – Even though you've swapped HDMI cables, test a different HDMI port on the TV (if available) to rule out a port issue.

  5. Update Firmware – Check for firmware updates on both your TV and the Sonos Amp. Sometimes, software updates can fix ARC-related issues.

  6. Reset HDMI Connection

    • Unplug the HDMI cable from both the TV and Sonos Amp.
    • Turn off both devices and wait a minute.
    • Plug the HDMI back into the TV first, then into the Sonos Amp.
    • Turn both devices back on and select the correct audio output in TV settings.

If none of these work, check the Sonos app for any error messages under 'System' settings. Let us know if you notice any changes.

I’ve tried all over the above and still the same. It’s a Panasonic Tv just a couple of years old. Also check the app is up to date and no errors.Any other ideas. Thanks 🙏
