Is your TV equipped with eARC? What specific Blu-ray are you watching?
Hi no there’s no eARC and I’ve tried multiple blue rays and dvds Dolby 5.1 and DTS. I used to have the blue ray directly connected to a onkyo amp and it was showing correctly as Dolby or DTS.
So I’m guessing it the tv not passing it correctly although I have noticed that the tv also has a Dolby digital and Dolby setting rather than auto, bypass etc i will see if that makes any difference
You need a TV equipped with eARC to play the lossless audio tracks on the Blu-rays. So your goal with your current setup is to play the lossy core audio tracks - Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS Digital Surround 5.1.
Use these settings on your Blu-ray player:
Audio (HDMI): Auto
BD Audio Mix Setting: On
Dolby Digital: Dolby Digital
DTS: DTS
Audio DRC: Off
Downmix: Surround
With the settings above, try each of these Digital Output settings on your TV: Auto, Bypass, and Dolby Digital
Thanks GuitarSuperstar I checked the blue ray player and those were the settings I had. I have tried a couple of the combinations and seems that Dolby digital plus shows up as 5.1 whereas Dolby digital shows up as 5.0 in the Sonos app.
i did try a couple of music disks that are 5.1 but didn’t hear much compared to watching Netflix,Apple TV etc. I also played an audio disk and can hear that through the surrounds as I have full selected in the surrounds setting.
I will play around with it this week.
