Hi all,

New to Sonos, looking to buy currently but had a question on compatibility.

i am wanting to following:

  • Sub Mini
  • 2 x Era 300
  • Beam Gen 2

i feel this is the best setup for me. Does anyone see any compatibility issues with this setup? How easy will it be to link up with a Samsung OLED TV? Any comments etc much appreciated.

Thanks.

Hello,

Those components will all work together to create a home theatre setup.

Start with setting up the Beam first.

Connecting the Beam (Gen2) to your Samsung TV is relatively straight forward, just follow the in app instructions.

You just need to ensure you are using the ARC/eARC HDMI port to connect the HDMI cable between the TV and Beam.

The Sub Mini and Era 300s will connect wirelessly to the Beam after they have been added to the Sonos app, by going into the Beam’s room settings and selecting Add Sub and Add Surrounds, or you may see prompts in the app with those setup suggestions.

Hi,

Thanks, that’s really helpful.

Reason I ask also is that all the cabling for the Sonos and TV are going to be recessed into the wall via some trunking. So I need to know what cables I need ahead of time. So other than the usual HDMIs, power leads etc, I need a ARC cable too? This goes from the sound bar to the TV.

Thank you.

The ARC/eARC reference was for the name of the HDMI port on your television, not a separate cable.

The Beam comes supplied with an HDMI cable and a power lead.

You might consider not building the cables into the wall but using a behind the wall wiring channel. You can buy some very nice ones that support future expansion or other changes, some even include power connections.
