I just got an ultra and sub. It’s going in a small(10x10) room.  This my MOVIE room. Where is the best placement for the sub?  Would surround speakers work in a small room?

Hello @DannyCakes and welcome to the Sonos family!

The answer to your question is not just simply, “place it here” for the best performance. Every room is different: wall coverings, furniture, etc.. So the best advice would be to move the Sub around to different locations in your room to see where it sounds best to you.

Don't forget to do basic trueplay everytime you move it so that the app can tune the room.

Lastly, everyones taste in audio is different. I have my EQ settings basically flat with the Sub set at 0. Some users boost the bass or sub level to what they like.

So do some experimenting with locations and find the place that best suits you.

As far as surrounds go, yes they do make a difference for watching movies!

When trying locations, it’s easiest to power the Sub on a long extension cable.

You are brave to be buying Sonos at this point in time with all the issues and the new crappy app that’s out. Hope it works out for you.
