Found some varying answers from a historical forum search so I’m hoping to find some current opinions (as well as consolidation of my questions into one thread).

I am looking to build a new system which I’m guessing will be a Beam (Gen 2), a Sub MIni and 2x Era 100s.   There is a chance that I might go Sub instead of Sub Mini but I don’t think this impacts my questions:

  1. I will most likely be looking at wall mounting the surrounds.  (This a room renovation so the electricians will put power outlets wherever I ask).   Would it be better to have the surrounds mounted on the side walls (but slightly behind the main viewing area) facing inward OR on the back wall facing forward?
  2. What features should I look for in a TV purchase to make this most compatible for this system?
  3. Is it correct to say that I don’t need any other components beyond the above for great home theater?
  4. Assuming the answer to 3) is “yes”, what else would I need if I changed my mind and decided to add any legacy stereo components (such as a turntable, CD player, etc)?   Anything?   Amp?     Same question for video gaming?   tStrong possibility that none of these items for question #4 happen in this room but I’m still curious]

Thank you all!

   Steve

How big is the room? How far are side walls from viewing position? How far is the back wall from the viewing position? Is Atmos desirable? Have you done any of your own research into Sonos products? What’s your budget? Why are you configuring with 100’s rather than 300’s? Have you listened to any systems and setups?

Way too many unknowns for a user community to comment sensibly, IMHO. You might get opinions but you’ll need to treat them with caution.
